Reading Workshop
o Make it Meaningful – Creating meaningful literacy experiences for students in grades K – 5. Participants will investigate each component of the Reading Workshop and learn practical ways to plan and implement daily lessons.
o Guided Reading Lessons that Work – Using leveled text to take readers to a deeper level of understanding. Participants will learn ways to create and manage small group guided reading experiences that engage students while increasing their literacy skills and strategies.
o Reading Across the Content Areas – Using reading skills and strategies to understand Science and Social Studies texts. Participants will learn multiple ways to help students increase their ability to read and understand informational text through an understanding of text features. This workshop highlights some key informational read alouds to use as springboards to inquiry and learning in the classroom.
o Guided Reading: Meet every child at the cutting edge of their learning. This session is an introduction to a balanced literacy framework with small group guided reading at its core. In this "nuts-and-bolts" workshop, teachers will learn effective strategies for planning and implementing effective guided reading lessons.
o Classroom Libraries and Read Alouds: Creating and managing a well-stocked classroom library is critical in every classroom. Students need to have access to a variety of books in a variety of genres. Learn ways to organize books and choose the “just right” books to read aloud to your students to maximize all areas of comprehension.
o Shared Reading: Shared Reading is where ALL students have visual access to a text. This session focuses on effective ways to lead shared reading in your K-3 classrooms. Practical ideas and resources will be shared as teachers plan and develop their own shared reading lessons to use tomorrow.
o New Ideas for Your Guided Reading Groups: Take your guided reading instruction to the next level while filling your teacher’s bag-of-tricks with lots of great ideas. Learn great ideas to improve fluency, word recognition, and comprehension.

Literacy Centers
o Primary Literacy Centers – Creating, managing, and integrating centers into the Literacy Block for meaningful practice. Participants will learn the Strategy Teaching Cycle and experience ways to make meaningful practice opportunities for students.
o Intermediate Investigations – Using meaningful independent literacy stations to reinforce literacy skills and strategies in grades 3 – 5. Participants will investigate ways to provide meaningful practice for intermediate students through multiple literacy experiences.

Comprehension
o Thinking Like a Reader – Unlocking the language and ideas good readers use to dig deeper into and understand text. Participants will receive several lessons that model comprehension skills and strategies.

Kindergarten
o Chanting Your Way Through Kindergarten – Using music and rhyme to build literacy in young children. Participants will experience and create chants to help reinforce the Fab 5: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency and Comprehension along with oral language development in the Kindergarten classroom.

Classroom Management
o So Much Stuff, So Little Space: Creating and managing a learner-centered classroom. Participants will learn ways to easily banish clutter, maximize space, and create an effective learning environment in this fast-paced, idea-packed workshop.

Word Work (Phonics and Vocabulary)
o Spelling & Word Walls Go Hand-in-Hand: Take advantage of great strategies to help your students become self-sufficient spellers. You’ll learn ways to improve your word walls so your students can apply these spelling strategies to all other subjects.
o Word Walls and the Primary Classroom– Using the word wall to increase phonics skills and strategies for primary students. Participants will learn multiple ways to utilize the word wall to enhance instruction.

Assessments and Instructional Decision-making
o Digging into Data – Identifying and using data sources to make instructional decisions for teaching and learning in your classroom. Participants will discuss ways to use formal and informal assessments to differentiate instruction for all children.
o Reading Assessments: Learn how to take a running record, then learn how to analyze the assessment, group students, and plan for instruction. You have never known so much about your students as readers.
o Meaningful Test Preparation – Reading and Math lessons and strategies to reinforce test preparation in grades 3 – 5. Participants will investigate six focused lessons to create success on state standardized tests.

Writing Workshop
o Building a Community of Writers: Discover writing activities to engage every level of writer in your classroom. You’ll learn specific skills to assist your learners as they continue to develop as writers.
o Interactive Writing: Learn how to set up and lead an interactive writing session as well as learn many different types of interactive writing-this is an invaluable tool to help your students become more confident and successful writers.

Collaboration and Team Building
o Leading a Collaborative Team: Training for teacher leaders. Teachers will learn the art of facilitating a group, involving all members in collaboration and planning, and handling those "road bumps" that may arise when working in a team.
Coaching and Consulting
o Help! I'm a Coach, Now What? Specifically designed to help Literacy Coaches learn how to work with teachers in their building. Coaches will hear many practical ideas and strategies for leading literacy implementation and collaborating with teams.
o Developing as a Coach Training for new or seasoned coaches that will investigate ways to motivate and provide resources for teachers to help them reach their maximum instructional potential.
